Seeing the photo brought a tiny smile to Berwald’s face. He could clearly see the confusion in his eyes and figured he looked pretty silly but thought that Timo looked unbearably adorable. He also found it really endearing that the younger man was looking at him instead of the camera. It was a cute photo. He let out a soft huff of laughter at the small blond’s idea. “G’luck with tha’, then. ‘m pretty good at noticin’ when someone’s tryin’ ta take a p’cture’f me,” he said, sounding amused. His friend had a point, though. That was probably the best – and also perhaps only – way to get a proper photo of him smiling. He took his phone out of his pocket when he felt that he’d just received a message. He smiled a little when he realized that Timo had sent him the photo he’d just taken. “Thanks,” he mumbled gratefully, happy that he’d have something to glance at when he was missing the younger blond. It’d also serve as a nice reminder of how wonderful tonight had been.
Berwald couldn’t help blushing again at his friend’s words. Timo thought he was handsome? That certainly wasn’t a compliment he received often so it was unsurprising that he was unable to formulate a coherent response right away. “S’okay… ‘m used ta it, honestly,” he finally said, trying to reassure the small blond that he didn’t care about how most people thought of him. He was aware of how scary he looked most of the time so he’d just come to accept that almost everyone, upon their first glance of him, had the tendency to react rather negatively. And the saying that first impressions last usually proved true for him. Hardly anyone bothered trying to look beyond his intimidating exterior. That didn’t trouble him much either, though. “’ve got people who know ‘m not so bad. An’ tha’s more than ‘nuff fer me,” he said quietly.
The tall blond felt a small, crooked smile curl his lips at the deep sigh Timo had just let out. He was very upset that they were so close to parting ways but he found the thought of his friend being saddened by the same thing to be oddly moving. He watched the small blond take his bag back and then wordlessly followed him to the train door. As soon as the train reached a complete stop, the door was opened and they hopped down onto the platform. He walked alongside Timo as they made their way out of the station. They paused at the street and Berwald knew it was time to say goodbye. He was a little surprised at the hug his friend had initiated but quickly wrapped his arms around the other man’s smaller frame in return. “Me, too. Thanks,” he murmured. “Same ta you. Rest lots, ‘kay? Be safe an’ take care’f yerself.”
