Lukas plopped his head on one of the outside tables, growling angrily and looking at whatever could give him the time of the day. The closest thing was a person, and he looked up at the stranger, holding his frown and trying to calm his mental state down. "You, what time is it?" he asked, tapping his foot impatiently and sighing.
Yes, it was Monday, the worst day of the week, especially for the Norwegian man. He needed a lot of cups of black coffee, and he needed it badly to start out the week. It wasn't his fault that his boss had decided to rudely wake him up at three in the morning for nothing, or as his boss said, for 'for important business I need you to finish.' This 'important business' was basically Lukas driving all the way to work and being told to go home, as they had found someone else to do the job for him.
It had put him in a bad mood, and his boss had picked a bad day to wake the Norwegian up early. He sighed when the other did not give him an answer to his question, turning to another person who seemed young but probably willing to give him an answer. He decided he would try to be a bit softer this time. This time, he would get it right and not mess up. He would put a smile on his face and kindly ask the stranger the time like in those happy-happy movies and shows. He would do it, no matter how much it went against himself and his usual face. It was not a usual day, anyways. It was a Monday, after all.
"Hey, you, could you... pl- pl- please tell me what time is it?" Lukas said, voice slightly faltering at the 'please' and trying to crack a slight smile. It was the best way he knew how to be nice, and he blamed most of it on his lack of sleep and lack of coffee. 'Wait, that reminds me...' He turned to one of the people who were serving the costumers, looking up slightly and yawning.
"Excuse me, could you give me a mug, a pot of black coffee, no sugar, and no cream? he said, watching the other nod and go off to complete his order. He gave a small sigh of relief and looked back at the young-looking man. "Sorry about that, do you know what time it is?" he said again, growling again and huffing. "I was kind of waken up early for work, and I don't want to be late today... even if I deserve to get the day off for driving all the way there at three."
[[ Sorry if this is bad. ;n; And short. ]]

(Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I didn't see this until right now. I'm really, really sorry, I have no idea how I missed this. I feel really bad. D:)
Matthew got himself out of the house again. He didn't do it enough and it was a nice day. He liked waking up early in the morning and finishing things while the sun rose up. But today, he decided a nice stroll with take his mind off of some things that had been bothering him, and there was also no work left to do in his house.
As he passed by a small restaurant, a man resting his head on a table started yelling at him and demanding the time. Matthew glanced behind him to make sure that he was being spoken to. He stared down at the man with a bit of fear and took a glance at his watch. "Uh, it's 5:45." He mumbled out and waited for a response. He stood there awkwardly as the man glared up at him. Did he do something wrong?
He demanded the time again. "Um, 5:46?" Matthew glanced down at the ground, it must have not been that guys day, it was the second time he asked in a very scary manner. The man snapped at a waiter for a cup of coffee before looking back at Matthew, continuing to ask the time.
"I-It's, uh, 5:47..." Matthew tried to say it louder. He held his watch out to show the sleepy man. So he had been woken up early... "Uh, I'm sorry...?" He stood still waiting for the man to calm down. This man was obviously very upset over the fact he had been woken up early. His ice blue eyes were set ablaze with a fury that Matthew really didn't want to get involved with.

[[ It's all right; don't worry about it~ :> ]]
Lukas waited patiently for the drink he needed ever so badly. He watched the waitress return with the cup and a coffeepot. He took the mug quickly, poured the coffee in the cup, and downed the drink fairly quickly. It burned his tongue slightly, and he growled ever so slightly, mentally correcting himself to drink the hot coffee a bit slower this time.
After nursing on about 5-7 cups of pure black coffee, he rested back on his chair to listen to the noise around him. He closed his eyes and heard birds chirping their joyful morning melodies, people walking, and some of those people that just ate and drank way too loudly. There were also the sound of people talking.
One of the voices stood out to him... one that seemed to be speaking to him. He drew in a long breath, letting it out. With the jolt of the coffee, he remembered that he had asked someone what the time was. A somewhat meek voice was calling out to him, and the Norwegian man was completely ignoring him and letting his anger flow to the other person. He was suddenly taken away from his thoughts as the voice called again.
"I-It's, uh, 5:47..." "Uh, I'm sorry...?"
Lukas opened his eyes and looked at the other, smiling lightly. He wanted to seem friendly, and he did not want the other thinking he was an old grump. That was because of the situation he was in, but that was the past. "Ah... thank you," he murmured, taking the pot and pouring more coffee in it. "It's all right... I should be the one apologizing. I do ask for your forgiveness," he said, looking at the seat across from him.
An idea struck him, and he looked at the blonde man. "Would you like a cup of coffee or two? I don't mind paying for you, and please, take it as a part of my apology..." he said, waiting for the answer so he could either enjoy a drink alone or call the waitress over for another cup. He sighed softly, deciding whether he should pat the spot or not. He decided against the thought.

Matthew was ignored for around 6 cups of coffee before the person who asked him the time noticed him. It seemed like he was shocked that Matthew was standing there in the first place. He sighed, it didn't come as a shock to Matthew. He tried to straighten his shoulders a bit. He always forgot about that.
The stranger apologized for his behavior before looking back at the seat across from him. Matthew was about to go when the guy asked him to have a cup of coffee with him. He stared at him, unsure of whether it would be rude to keep walking or rude to take up on the offer. He decided to take the chair. "Um, sure. Thanks..." He mumbled as he placed himself down in the chair, watching the other carefully. He didn't know how long it had been since he had sat down at a table with someone else. Were there rules he didn't know? Probably. He was really going to screw this up.
"I'm Matthew Williams." He said quietly and held his hand out across the table. It didn't make much sense to have coffee with someone who didn't know his name, right? "And you are?"

Lukas huffed softly, resting back on his chair and smiling inwardly. Hopefully the man was not too insulted from being ignored while he was trying to wake up to get his normal schedule up and running? Yes, hopefully, this young man understood what he was going through and would forgive him for his bitter attitude a few moments ago.
When the man stared back at him, the Norwegian man forced a small smile to make it seem like a friendly gesture rather than a lame excuse for an apology. He was quite glad to have the other take the chair across from his. That meant that he could actually have a conversation with someone other than random strangers he met at a bar or something of the sort. "You're very welcome," he said, blinking his eyes slightly and shaking his head. "So do you like tea, regular coffee, or decaf?" he asked, waiting for the other's reply to ask for the cup and the particular drink the other man wanted.
"Matthew Williams, I am Lukas Bondevik. You may call me Lukas," he said back, speaking in a soft tone and shaking the other man's hand. This Matthew person had a nice name, and the name fit a person like him. He didn't seem like a social butterfly, which was good. That meant that he didn't speak too much, and he probably wasn't that loud either.

"I like regular old coffee... with some maple syrup." Matthew added quietly at the end. Of course that maple syrup was needed to put into his coffee. Honestly, he would only drink it like that. It gave it a certain texture and sweetened the bitter liquid better than sugar.
Lukas Bondevik... That was a nice name, it had a different and special ring to it. The name definitely fit its user, he seemed like a different kind of person. His name was much better than a simple one like Matthew Williams. "I-it's nice to meet you." He said as they shook hands quickly.
Matthew rocked slowly from side to side, wondering what one does when having coffee with a stranger. What else should he say? What else needed to be asked? Should anything be asked at all? Matthew probably asked himself more questions than he would even need to say. He decided a comfortable silence was a good choice.

Lukas gave the man a curious glance, but he just shrugged his shoulders to keep from seeming rude. 'People have their preferences, I guess...' he thought, calling a waitress over. "Regular coffee with some maple syrup would be nice..." he told her, watching her nod and go off to get what she wanted. She was probably looking forward to a good tip, which was probably why she was being so quick about their orders. Maybe she was new?
Ah, that didn't matter. He had someone with him, and it would be best not to ignore the other as he did last time. He turned towards the other and looked into his eyes, which were a nice shade of violet. Violet eyes were not a common sight around these parts, and the Norwegian man found it interesting. "It's nice to meet you as well," he said, trying to be polite and retreating his hand from the shake.
He waited for a moment to see if the other tried to ask him any questions before Lukas took a sip out of his coffee. He assumed that the other had no questions, and he took a few sips of coffee. Maybe this would be silent conversation. That was okay with him; silence was welcomed.

Matthew fiddled with his fingers under the table. The two sat in mutual silence, which Matthew felt relieved over the fact it was acceptable. He was glad that Lukas ended up not being as bad a person as he thought. He seemed much less intimidating than before.
The waitress came back to the table and placed a steaming cup of coffee in front of Matthew along with a bottle with syrup. "Thank you." He mumbled, pouring the thick, sweet substance into his mug. He stirred quickly before taking a sip. Heaven. He rested the mug on the table, glancing over to Lukas. He assumed that not saying anything was good. He smiled a bit and took another sip of his coffee. It felt nice to have someone sitting at a table with him. Matthew tried to remember the last time this had happened, when he realized it hadn't. He'd never sat down and drank coffee with someone. Matthew leaned back in his chair, a small sigh escaping his lips.

Lukas watched the other man curiously, wondering why Matthew was so nervous being around him. He picked up his coffee cup, taking a sip and taking a gulp. Maybe it was when he was angry at his boss for waking him up so early. 'Oh well, it was only one bad day; I'm sure he understands what I was going through,' he thought as he took a sip of his cold coffee. He took the coffee pot, pouring himself another cup and letting the steaming drink cool off. He had almost burned his tongue when he drank his first few cups.
He silently watched the violet-eyed blonde pour maple syrup into his coffee. 'Ruining some good coffee...' he thought. Though, he had to admit. The cafes weren't the best of places to get a good cup of coffee. It was better to buy it and make it yourself, but in situations like Lukas', it was better just to go to a cafe and buy some coffee. 'I guess people have their different tastes,' he said to himself, shrugging and looking off to the side. He didn't want to seem like he was staring, and he reminded himself that he was slightly staring. It seemed like Matthew was rather relaxed, and Lukas was glad to know that he was relaxed. He took a sip out of his cooled coffee and wondered how the coffee would taste like if he poured the syrup in it. He sighed slightly, thinking that he'd rather not find out about it.

Noticing the odd stares he was getting from the man across the table from him, Matthew set down the mug. Maybe he shouldn't drink so much. Or Lukas could have been waiting for Matthew to spark up a conversation. He didn't think that was a good option though, so he kept his mouth shut.
Silence was good, silence was a natural thing for Matthew. He'd spent most of his life like this. He sighed, content with this situation. It would have been weird to have sat down with someone who made a lot of noise. He took another sip of his sweetened coffee, trying to settle in his seat. Maybe one question wouldn't hurt... "What job do you have? If you don't mind me asking." He mumbled the question out, unsure if Lukas would hear. Matthew hadn't quiet decided if he wanted him to hear anyway.

Lukas quietly sipped the coffee from his mug, deciding that the coffee was getting cold. He wouldn't drink it cold, and it was slightly disgusting to drink cold coffee. He watched Matthew move around, probably being nervous with him. It didn't bother him too much, but he wondered if Matthew was actually going to say something during this chat.
The question that he was asked amused him slightly, but it was kind of hard to hear as the other mumbled his words. He had heard enough to get something out of it, so he decided to use what he had to answer it. "I don't mind at all. I work as a medical examiner... or what others would call 'something in forensics'," he said, slightly rolling his eyes at the last part. "What kind of work do you do?" he asked, attempting to get the boy to speak with him.

(Holy crap, I honestly thought I posted this. I had it written on my computer and everything, I'm so sorry.)
Matthew felt slightly relieved at Lukas' answer. He had asked an okay question, that meant he was doing alright. A medical examiner seemed like an interesting job. Half a dozen jokes about how it must be a 'stiff' job popped into his head, not that he would share any of them.
"I'm just a university student at the moment." Taking tentative sip of his coffee, he continued, "I haven't chosen a major yet though... I keep changing my mind." Matthew could never think what he was interested in enough to choose, he didn't have any particular interests.
