Country: Comune di Seborga
Name: Vittorio Vargas (Vittorio is just… a common Italian name. And I figured Vargas made sense for his surname because he is a part of Italy.)
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Profession: Gardener and Florist.
Highlander or Lowlander?: Lowlander
All the strangers look like family
All the family look so strange
All the family look so strange
Appearance:
Vittorio is small in stature, standing at about 5 feet and 5 inches in height and being of a rather thin variety. His skin is darkened from hours spent outside in the garden during his childhood, and his hands are rough and calloused for the same reason. Typically, Vittorio does nothing to his hair and it simply falls messily on his head with a single, jagged-edged curl sticking out on the left side awkwardly. When it comes to clothing, Vittorio puts no effort into making himself look "in place" in any way. He simply puts on whatever he first lays his hands on and has an uncanny knack for putting on anything that could be construed as clothing that he comes across during the day, leaving him wearing a conglomaration of the most unique and bizarre clothing.
Personality:
Simply put, Vittorio is a bit of an idiot. He is very flighty and consistently happy, no matter what the circumstances. It's very hard to upset Vittorio even a little bit, and it's even harder to keep him that way. Most people who do wind up upsetting him feel very much like they've just kicked a retarded puppy, and often enough apologize pretty quickly for it. He has a never-ending passion for all plants, but especially flowers, and an unnatural obsession with ketchup, which he will gladly put on any food he eats.
Family is very important to Vittorio, and he displays this by consistently pestering those he considers his family into insanity (this includes close friends in his mind). But he knows that deep down, they love him anyway. Because that's what family does, they love you no matter what!
Vittorio has a somewhat skewed view of the world. He sees life as a game that he's playing, and the rules are consistently changing, so he tries to change before they can! But this often leads to him doing very strange and unexplainable things that most people don't understand. Often enough, he doesn't fully understand the reasoning behind what he does himself.
Adding on to his intense inability to do anything productive, Vittorio is also an easily distractable and very agreeable person. Shiny things, clouds, butterflies, bugs, plants, and nearly anything can distract Vittorio at a moment's notice, especially if he's not very invested in the conversation to begin with. Furthermore, he will agree with practically anything people say to him, even if he doesn't really agree and has actually said something completely contradictory only moments before. Typically, he doesn't even really know what he's agreeing to because he wasn't actually paying attention.
And yet, despite his constant silliness, Vittorio has an unnatural knack for being deep and profound when the time calls for it. Perhaps it’s because he views the world so very simply. Also, he is very charming when he wants to be and loves to flirt with cute girls, because every cute girl deserves to be flirted with.
All in all, Vittorio is a very happy person who wants nothing more than to just keep being happy and make the people around him happy forever.
History:
Vittorio’s existence is a bit of a strange one to begin with. His mother was working at a bar when she met his father - a man who was a Highlander. Through certain drunken escapades, they hit it off and thus Vittorio was created. However, the man had family to return to, and so he couldn’t stay. He never found out that he had another son. And the only thing Vittorio has from his father is his surname.
But Vittorio grew up knowing that he has at least one half-sibling somewhere out there. Not that it really ever mattered to him very much, he just knows that if he ever meets his sibling, he’ll be glad to take them into his family immediately! As it was, Vittorio grew up with only his mother to raise him. So they weren’t very well off, but they were actually a lot happier than most families tend to be.
Vittorio always made his mother happy, so she did everything she could to make life better for him. She worked hard to send him to school, but didn’t have the ability to hire anyone to take care of him while she was at work. So, frequently, Vittorio wound up going with his mother to her varying and ever-changing jobs. This made Vittorio into a more worldly person when it comes to knowledge, and he knows a lot more than he lets on, but somehow it managed to not jade him to the wonders of the world around him.
At a very young age, Vittorio displayed a love for plants and things that grow and started taking care of little vegetable gardens in his and his mother’s home. But he quickly discovered that he liked growing flowers a lot more. When he was very young, he explained that this was because they spoke to him more, but as he grew up he seemed to grow out of that particular phase, though he does still talk to his plants.
Since he is so good with plants, the moment Vittorio left school he sought employment as a farmer or gardener. This didn’t make him quite enough money, but he didn’t mind and even gladly took up a side job of working as a florist as well.
Recurring nightmare:
It’s a strange thing - much like most of the things revolving around Vittorio - but it simply involves being alone. Completely and utterly alone. And he feels the sense that nobody in the world wants to claim him as their own. ((Historically speaking, this is January 20, 1729, when Seborga was annexed to the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia and has never been claimed by a country since. I hope that makes sense, since Seborga isn‘t a particularly … war-filled place.))
The only constant I am sure of

Likes:
--Plants, especially flowers (As described multiple times above, Vittorio has a natural affinity towards plants and flowers. He just loves them so much.)
--Ketchup (It’s the most delicious topping ever and everyone should know that.)
--Cute girls (Does this really need an explanation? Cute girls are by far one of the best things in the world.)
--Sleeping (Because sleeping helps you to feel better when you wake up! And it allows you to be in a world where anything is possible.)
--Shiny things (They’re distracting, but it’s completely worth it.)
Dislikes:
--The smell of rain (The rain itself isn’t a problem, but the smell preludes it annoys him. Mostly because then he knows it’s going to be raining, but he doesn’t know WHEN. He has a overwhelming fear of drowning, so whenever it rains, he walks around carrying a flotation device of some kind, usually an inner tube.)
--Being bored (Who likes being bored though? It’s something that Vittorio detests, though, and so he makes sure to let his mind wander to something more interesting whenever boredom occurs.)
--People touching his curl - it's weird... (HE DOESN’T KNOW WHY IT’S JUST WEIRD AND HE DOESN’T LIKE IT.)
--When other people are upset (Life is too good to be upset! So it’s sad to see other people being upset.)
--Being away from his mother (She’s really the only family he knows, so being away from her for extended periods of time leaves him feeling anxious.)

Roleplay Sample:
Despite the fact that it was the middle of the night and any normal human being would be sleeping, Vittorio had found his way out into a field and was lying on his back, arms behind his head, staring up at the stars. Or perhaps he was looking at the fleeting clouds passing in front of the stars. He couldn’t really tell himself. Both caught his interest on occasion, but neither held it for very long.
His mind was everywhere tonight. Not that it wasn’t everywhere all the time, it just seemed particularly flighty this time. One moment, he was grinning widely as he spotted shapes among the clouds and stars, and the next he was frowning in deep concentration, trying to figure his own mind out without tearing it apart completely.
“It’s-a not really something to worry about,” he said aloud very suddenly, speaking to no one, because no one was around, but seeming to be directing the words to a particular star in the sky. “Zoe’s-a very pretty. There’s-a no reason why I wouldn’t-a like her.”
The person in question that Vittorio was talking about was a girl that he had been friends with for quite some time. She was a few years younger than him, so he felt strange being attracted to her at all. After all, she was much too young to be flirting with her.
It was at that moment that the very person he was thinking about flopped onto the ground next to him. She was blushing brightly, so she had obviously heard what he had been saying, but she said nothing. Upon noticing her, Vittorio seemed startled for only moment. He recovered quickly and then rolled onto his side, propping his head up on his hand and beaming at her.
“Ciao, bella!” he greeted brightly, pretending like nothing was wrong with the world. Because really nothing was. “What are you-a doing here? It’s-a so late!”
She said nothing and simply continued to look completely embarrassed as she stared at the sky. Seeming confused, Vittorio followed her gaze up and then looked back down to her face. “Did you see a constellation?” he asked excitedly. “I’ve been looking at them all night!” It wasn’t a lie. He had been looking at them after all.
Still she said nothing and Vittorio was starting to get worried. It didn’t show on his face, or in his voice, but anyone who knew him would be able to tell that he was getting a little frantic. “Are you-a alright? You’re-a really quiet! It’s-a okay to be quiet sometimes, but sometimes it’s-a not okay too, you see? You should-a really answer someone when-a they’re trying to--”
“D-did you mean that? What you said?” Vittorio was cut off as the girl spoke suddenly and he blinked a couple of times before his bright smile took its place on his face again.
“Si, of course I did! I think some people think it’s-a rude to not answer someone when they--”
Suddenly, she was standing and looked really frustrated. “Th-that’s not what I meant!” she retorted, some anger and frustration seeping into her voice. “I… I meant about liking me.”
For a moment, Vittorio was quiet. He laid back down and looked up at the sky for a long time before he finally spoke again. “I don’t-a say things I don’t-a mean.” And then, almost instantly, he was distracted again. “Look! That cloud looks-a just like a bunny!”
The girl seemed frustrated still, but it was ebbing quickly. Still blushing furiously, she sat down next to Vittorio and looked upward. “I… guess it does,” she responded.
And while it may not have seemed like anything had changed, it certainly had. For moment’s later, Vittorio’s hand met hers and he held on tightly as they watched the stars together.
((… I hope that was okay. XD;; The “girl” named “Zoe” is Wy, for… anyone who’s curious.))
