Country: Federal Republic of Germany/ Bundesrepublik Deutschland
Name: Ludwig Beilschmidt
Gender:Male
Age:18
Profession:Student/Tutor/Assistant
Highlander or Lowlander?:Highlander
All the strangers look like family
All the family look so strange

Appearance:Ludwig is a muscular, rugged young man who’s about 5’ 10 -5’ 11. He has blue eyes and short blond hair that he gels back. He wears a black corded necklace that has some beads and a guitar pick charm with an iron cross printed on it that he received from his half-brother on his father’s side. He usually wears casual attire consisting of T-shirts over long sleeve shirts. Depending on who he is visiting, he either wears cargo pants, jeans or slacks. He is a bit farsighted so he uses reading glasses for study.
Personality:He generally has a calm and quiet personality, but he can be loud when he wants to. He can hold his own easily in a fight, but he would prefer not to get into them at all. When you first meet him, he seems gruff and hard to get to know, but he is actually welcoming, dedicated and loyal, and always willing to lend a hand or help a friend in a pinch. He is a smart individual who has a natural ingenuity for working with what’s at hand. He is very focused whenever he studies or works. Whenever he tutors, he expects the person he is teaching to listen and follow along or the student will be in for a severe lecture or extra homework. He also likes to keep things neat and orderly, but he’s never over the top about it.
He picked the guitar up during the time when his mother was teaching his brother Roderich the violin, but he insisted upon something different. He is more of a rocker at heart than a classical player. He still plays now even though he just started at the university and is kept busy with that.
He cares deeply about his family and enjoys being doted on by his two older brothers. He is very kind to his 2 dogs and treats them like they are part of his own family. Actually, he treats any animal he meets with that respect. In his free time he will read, study more about the wind turbines, play with the dogs, or help/hang out at his half-brother’s shop. He tries to jog no less than 4 out of the 7 mornings a week, usually before school and sometimes he takes the dogs with him. It may not seem like it, but he is a sucker for a classic storybook romance like Sleeping Beauty or Beauty and the Beast; though in real life he suffers from shy awkwardness in the romance department.
History:His father was married to his first wife for a few years before she passed on, leaving him and their child on their own. He took great care of his son while balancing out his job as an administrator at the Highlands University.
One morning, his father and his father’s eldest biological son (Ludwig’s half-brother) came to the University daycare earlier than usual. Under a tree in the playground, his young son begged him to sing the lullaby his mother used to sing to him before her death. He gave in and sang the high notes in his lulling tenor voice. His son was asleep when he finished. That was when Mr. Beilschmidt turned around and saw a women holding her child and listening to him in quiet appreciation. Her 2 year old son, Roderich wasn’t use to coming this early, so he too was fast asleep in her arms. The two talked as they waited for the daycare to open up.
They met each day early thereafter to talk. His father slowly came to fall in love with Maria Edelstein, but he respected that she wanted to work out her marriage.
One day everything changed when he was picking up his son and happened to notice that Roderich was still there and Maria hadn’t picked him up already. His son wanted to play a little longer with the boy and his father said it was fine. He knew it was getting late and that the daycare worker needed to get home since she had to take the tram to get to the train. He told the elderly lady that he’d stay until a family member came to take the boy home. She was hesitant, but he placed his hands on her shoulders as a reassurance and said it would be fine since he was one of the administrators. She acquiesced and quickly ran to catch the tram.
It was another hour before he saw Maria running to the daycare. She hugged her son and thanked him for staying with him. She explained that she’d had to work late and had expected his father to come pick him up. She didn’t know he’d forgotten until the daycare called. His father’s actions cinched things for her and she fell for him too after that day. After finalizing the divorce the two stared dating, and were soon married with Ludwig’s birth following nine months after.
Ludwig loves his family and has good relationships with all of them. He isn’t spoiled, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t doted on somewhat by his older brothers. Of course they also liked to tease him equally as much. But it was all good – natured.
Growing up his grandparents on his father side helped to take care of him and his two brothers. His grandfather’s discipline and desire for an orderly household eventually rubbed off on Ludwig, but was offset by his grandmother who on the other hand always said that, “Everyone needs a little sweetness in life.” She was the one who showed Ludwig how to bake many different kinds of sweets and desserts.
He enjoyed his father’s parents, but it was hard for him when they passed away. There wasn’t much the family could do to cheer him up until his mother’s father showed him the wind turbines. He explained about how they are used and the simple concept of how they worked. This was when Ludwig discovered he loved engineering and wanted to study it and work in the field. During this time, his mother also gave him a Golden Retriever to help cheer him up. He instantly loved Aster and within 3 years his father adopted Berlitz, a German Shepherd to help protect the household.
Ludwig is currently a first-year student at the Highland University studying Mechanical Engineering, deciding upon it after having done more research on the wind turbines. He told his father about his choice and though his father was at first hesitant, he respected his son’s choice for his education.
Ludwig will often visit his brother Roderich’s bookshop to help out or just to browse for study aids. His brother allows him to borrow whatever he wants, knowing he will bring it back in pristine condition.
Since he has a natural ability in math and the sciences, was advanced for his age, and taking a few college courses in high school; he started tutoring a few students his junior by high school for a reasonable price. Although, since he began his first year of coursework at the Highland University he hasn’t taken on any new students.
Recurring nightmare:
((Pretty much WWII. I just wanted to give you the idea of it.))
The smoke from the nearby fires wrapped all around the teen as he tried to escape them. A sound nearby caught his attention.
Fear crept into his voice as he called out. “Hello?”
A leathery hand shot out and grabbed his ankle. He looked down and saw the leathery form of a human that held him fast. He looked up in horror to see that there were more walking and crawling toward him. He slipped and fell in a puddle as he screamed and kicked at the hand that held him.
“Let go of me you monster!”
He gave one more hard kick and the hand finally broke from his ankle as Ludwig took his chance to get away from the creatures.
“It’s your fault. You did this,” was whispered in the air all around him.
“No… I...I didn't.”
He ran, but kept getting halted by the creatures. He finally found an opening and raced for it, but stopped before a large monster that came upon his path.
He turned and saw that the monsters and humans have now encircled him, but he can't see their shadowed faces. He opened his mouth about to call out, but stopped as one points an accusing claw at him.
“You are the MONSTER.”
In the eerie light he can see that his clothes and hands are
bathed in red. His eyes widened in shock. He has only moments to register it all before the monsters have tackled him into the fire.

Likes:
Dogs: His family owns 2 now. Aster, a 5 year old Golden Retriever and Berlitz, a 2 year old German Shepherd.
Music: He has a huge collection of music that he listens to. He just loves it a lot and he doesn’t limit it to just certain genres. It’s one of the few ways he can express himself; especially when playing his guitar.
Sketching: Not the kind most people would see. He does architectural or engineering type of drawings. He likes try to figure out how some things are built. He would sketch out how the wind generators were built and see if there are new ways to improve with the items at hand.
Cakes: It’s his only weakness. He loves cakes and enjoys this sweet treat. He hides this fact around everyone except his family (they knew this since he was a boy.) He does go in bakeries and buys a piece every other week, early in the morning after his run before school. He was taught by his grandmother how to bake many different kinds of sweets, but cake is his favorite. If he could, he would try to bake the cakes himself, but because he’s so busy, he has had to push it aside.
Books: he loves to read. He reads anything from fantasy to non-fiction. Recently he has been reading a lot of books on engineering.
His half-brothers (Blood is thicker than water)
Dislikes:
Slackers/Slacking: It’s useless and annoying. You can’t get anywhere in life doing nothing the whole time.
Animal Abuse: He hates it period.
Bullying: It’s same as Animal Abuse he just hates it.
Wasting time: If it’s not useful then it’s wasting his time
Indecisiveness & lack of confidence: In essence being wish-washy
His half-brother on his father’s side’s constant pranks and jibes (He annoys him to no end! Mein Gott!)

Roleplay Sample:
Ludwig walked out of his office stretching out his arms and back.
“Done! Hmmm..? Feliciano isn't back yet.” He sighed and walked back into the office that held his phone.
“I better call him. He's probably gotten distracted by a cat or taking a siesta again.” He was holding onto the phone about to dial when the doorbell rang.
“Who is?.... Oh right Feli did say Romano was coming.” Placing the phone back on the hook, he made his way to the front door as the bell rang several times with someone also pounding on the door itself.
“I'm coming, I'm coming.” Ludwig shouted as he worked to unlock the door. Romano shoved his way in as Ludwig unlocked the door. The Southern Italian growled as he stormed past Ludwig.
“Alright, I'm here Feliciano! Let's go!” Romano shouted, hoping Feliciano would hear him.
Ludwig blinked in surprise at Romano's words. He turned around and looked up and down at the other. Romano was wearing a grey shirt that had an old faded white symbol. A brown jacket was covering the shirt with a pair of blue jeans to set it all together. The odd part about all this is that Romano, even if he's going with his brother, always looked clean; but right now the shirt was wrinkled, the jacket disheveled and the pants had a few stains on them.
“What are you looking at potato bastard?”
“Ah nothing. Feliciano is out right now. He'll be back soon.”
“Grrrrr, why isn't he here now? We need to get going now!” Romano turned away nearly shouted out the last of his words to the back of the house. Ludwig narrowed his eyes.
“He isn't here, like I said. And didn't Feli say that you asked to come here anyway.” He watched as Romano's back stiffened, but he quickly turned back around to face him
“One, I did not ask to come here and two, why would I!” He glared at the man. He could tell Romano was nervous from the slight shake in his form.
“Look just relax...”
He didn't get a chance as Romano retorted back, “You are so frustrating! Feliciano keeps talking about you it's... grrrr I just wish you would just disappear!”
Ludwig leaned against the door waiting, while Romano huffed and puffed.
“What's your problem? You know that Feliciano and I have...” It clicked for Ludwig. He narrowed his eyes and took a closer look at Romano's eyes. They held a slightly glassy look in them.
“Look Romano, I can't disappear, because as long as Feliciano sneaks up here, he won't let me be. Romano, is there something you want to talk about?”
“Why should I talk to you about anything!” retorted the Italian as he made the usual vulgar gesture that hardly made Ludwig mad anymore.
Ludwig moved closer to Romano, but stayed leaning against the wall. He looked down at his shoes remembering.
“You know it wasn't like Feli and I got together right away. Actually, I didn't know that the red roses he had given me were a gift meant for a friend. It was only later after my disastrous attempt at a date that Feliciano explained everything to me. We decided to stay friends in the end.” Ludwig chuckled, as he glanced over.
Romano didn't move from where he was, but he could tell that Romano was listening even if it didn't look like it.

Any other information: I work two jobs and family does come in once in a while. I'll post when I can, but it'll be at random times.
There’s room left there for one of the other German speaking countries (like Prussia or Luxembourg) to take the role of the third brother or for Germania to take the role of the Ludwig’s father in case any potential RPer wanted to be related. If not, that is fine as well.
You pull me in…
