Country: New Zealand
Name: Atawhai C. Kirkland Atawhai is maōri for 'kindness;caring' it's a unisex name. The 'C' is for Charlie, which is also unisex. Kirkland is simply because of England. Atawhai is pronounced 'ah-tah-FAI'... (I like the name Charlie~.)
Gender: Female, I chose female because New Zealand was the first country to let females vote. ((And because I secretly ship greece/nz))
Age: 20
Profession: Farm-Hand that works mainly with livestock.
Highlander or Lowlander?: Lowlander

Appearance It's no wonder New Zealand confuses people with what gender she is. Being just 5'7'' and quite chestless for a 20 year old woman, anyone could confuse her for a 15 year old girly boy! Her hair is in a boyish cut (Courtesy of a certain Australian who thought she was a he), and the colour is a very common blonde with gold natural highlights. Even though she's very frail-looking, she is a helpful and strong farm hand. She keeps things simple with wearing a tank top and a button-up blouse and shorts during the harvest days, and long-sleeved wool sweaters with jeans during the colder days of the year. She has big eyebrows like an infamous boy that visits clubs, but they're just a bit thinner. Her round, happy eyes are a mix of spring grass and golden wheat ready for harvest. She has a tattoo of a black fern on her neck, and a Maōri pattern on her calf.
Personality: As her name implies, New Zealand is a very caring and kind girl. Getting on her bad side (which is very hard to do) is as bad as getting a massage from a cactus. Very painful, and you pay for it. She's the kind of girl that makes friends with strangers in a matter of seconds. She can also make an enemy in a matter of seconds. She can be quiet and diplomatic as well, but she prefers not to. If you ask her what gender she is, she'll reply 'What do you think I am?' With a sweet Russia smile. Most of the time, she's thought of as 'one of the guys' and she's okay with it. She likes going to clubs and seeing how many girl's numbers she can get in one night. On days off she teaches poetry and sings songs for the ankle-biters of the lowlands with her old, battered handy acoustic guitar. She reveres her tattoos more than the clothes on her back. She believes that family is a very important thing, but she lacks a family. So, whenever she sees a friend out on the streets she'll probably invite them inside to stay the night, or stay permanently. Sometimes, she'll even ask strangers.
History: She was raised by an elder she only knew as Hoa. Hoa told her that her parents were now watching her from a cloud island. Hoa was a sickly elder, who stayed in bed for many days, and relied on little New Zealand to care for her. Very little is known about Hoa. New Zealand took very good care of Hoa, and worked part-time as a child to take care of her. On New Zealand's 19th birthday, Hoa dissappeared and left two tattoo designs for Atawhai. Atawhai had made a lot of friends since that day, but sometimes she ends up crying herself to sleep, knowing that everyone who nurtured her has left her all alone. When she was smaller, she worked in a farm (the same one she works in currently) feeding animals and taking care of the infant animals. Her favorites were the lambs.
Recurring nightmare: May 1941, Battle of Crete.
Example: People falling from the skies, people dying all around me, I try to save one from dying... someone is pulling me away, telling me we have to go, we've lost too many people. I won't let go of him. I'm bleeding too, but I won't let go. Never. He's bleeding so much, and I can save him, I know I can. I can't leave him like this.. no, no, no... not like this, completely vulnerable to the people falling from the skies, shooting at everyone. I am forced off of him, and whoever is carrying me runs to the retreating ships. I cry and cry out to the man I just left. I didn't want to leave him... but... I left him.

Likes:
Farming, even though it's hard work, it's very fufilling. The livestock are like her babies.
Music, the almighty communicator. It's how she meets people.
Her tattoos, they remind her of Hoa, and vaugely of her parents. Both symbols of New Zealand.
Friends, those blokes make life bearable, plus they've always got your back, like great allies.
Dislikes:
Arthur Kirkland, the highlanders have they're own clubs, why can't he stay with his kind? She wouldn't mind gettin' in a fight with him.
Last Name, makes it seem like She's realated to that Highlander.
Lack of.. assets how is Atawhai supposed to have a real family, if she can't even attract a bloke to start one with?
Prissy music you don't need the drugs or the sex, you just need you to pump up that bass.

"There once was a little boy, who stopped a dam-" Hoa started.
"Hoa! You already told me that story!" young Atawhai giggled while peeling an apple for Hoa. This was how they used to spend Atawhai's days off, Atawhai relaxed against the bed post of Hoa's bed, and Hoa recalling old stories about sailors, princesses, and ancient warriors. Sometimes they even made their own stories, about a nonexistant land called Aotearoa. Hoa was always very good at making up stories for this place, but Atawhai got a stomache from even thinking about Aotearoa.
"Alright child," Hoa said, breaking Atawhai's train of thought "I've got a story I know you haven't heard." Atawhai glanced up and looked at her elder. Something told her this story was really special for Hoa to wait thirteen years after she had found her.
"One day," Hoa started "there was a soldier who came home, only to see his lover nurturing a beautiful baby. The baby had it's mothers delicate gold hair, it's fathers green eyes, that reminded everyone who looked into them of a breezy summer meadow." Hoa smiled and took the peeled apple from Atawhai. "The soldier took very good care of the baby when his wife was working in a factory. They were a happy family, even though they endured many hardships. Very... very happy." Hoa muttered the last part with a distictly sad tone. Atawhai was now watching Hoa intently.
"And then what happened, Hoa? They aren't a happy family anymore? Did the baby die?" Atawhai said, tilting her head. For once, Atawhai was very curious about the story. Something about it made her heart hurt, but in a good way, the way you that tells you something is affecting you.
"I'm getting to it, Atawhai." Hoa chuckled. "Paitence is a virtue." With that, Atawhai stood up straight and looked at Hoa straight in the eyes. Hoa laughed at Atawhai's eagerness
"One day, while the soldier and the lover were asleep, they forgot to wake up, and left the baby all alone..." Hoa stopped, and glanced at Atawhai, who was on the verge of tears. Atawhai was breaking inside, it was HER story.

Any other information: I reeeally like ice cream, so if I'm not on, it's probably because I have a horrid cold. Oh, and... sometimes I go to Mexico and visit family, so during the summer, I probably won't be on too much.
