October 2054
Mingxia was sick. The plague had caught hold of her as it had caught millions of her people. She lay in bed, weakly looking around as her visitors came and went- Kiku, Michael, Yao had not come yet... Kimmy was already gone, she knew; no one had told her that Vietnam had died, but there was no way she would have survived the flooding, let alone the epidemic.
She felt ashamed of her inability to help her brothers and sisters when they needed each other most. Even harder to bear was the thought of letting down her former bosses, even the ones who had abused her. "I'm so sorry, Chiang-sama..." she whimpered. She wished she could cry, if only to get the feeling out of her, but crying for herself was something she promised she would never do, no matter how bleak her situations were. However, where this vow helped her weather martial law 40 years prior, it now only burdened her further.
"I-I have to be strong," she murmured. "F-for everyone."

Yao knocks on her bedroom door slowly before walking in, feeling nervous all of the sudden. “Hello Mingxia, aru....” Yao's heart broke in two at the sight of her weakened form. His strong, rebellious (and sometimes annoying) younger sister was sick and all he could do was watch her wither away like the bouquet of plum blossoms he had bought her.
His thoughts trailed off. Kim was already gone. Yao always had a feeling that Mingxia would be next. He always thought how she would get sick from worrying about everything. And how wrong he was. As an older brother to them all, it hurt him the most. He could do nothing but curse his immortality as nation after nation disappeared from the face of the Earth. Will Shang (HK) be next? Kiku? Yong Soo? Yao suddenly coughed into his hand, there were small traces of blood. It seems that even he will not make it through alive. This is the first time he felt the signs of change....and it unnerved him.

Mingxia blearily looked up to the disruption in her reserved silence. "Yao... Gauzar," she murmured with a tiny smile. With everything going on in the world and the other Nations dropping like flies into the sea, they had learned to put their animosity regarding each other aside some years back, and it had made her wonder why they hadn't sooner. But now that she was fading away with her people, she looked on that sentiment in regret. This encounter wouldn't be so awkward if they had done it sooner, and she wished to speak to him as a friend, not as a former rival.
She noticed the plum bouquet in his hands and shook her head softly before speaking. "You didn't need to bring those, Yao..."

Yao shakes his head before smiling at her, "Of course I had to get them for you Meimei! These are your favorite flowers after all aru,"
He tries not to look at her weakened form. He instead sees the strength in her eyes that she still wants to fight. But reality of the current situation isn't changing at all. So the least Yao could do is help those who are sick to be comfortable as best as he can.
"Would you like me to get you anything? Or are you hungry aru?"
