Arthur paused, a sudden thought occurring to him. "They're going to want to see my house, aren't they? Perhaps I should find a breeder at home after all." After all the time that he was spending down in the Lowlands he was starting to forget that most people didn't cross over the border quite as easily, and they'd probably be unwilling to come up to the Highlands to check his house, or at least suspicious of him. He'd just not wanted to get a kitten, and he knew that the sanctuary was here.
Nodding to here what Alfred was up to, Arthur frowned, since it didn't really answer why he hadn't come to meet him. He held his tea in, staring out of the window as he considered the question in return, and finally gave a little shrug. "Just that. It takes more meetings and time then you'd suppose to get a book published, especially when there's paintings involved." He said, sighing out. For some reason they kept trying to arrange meals, too, which were awkward to get out of. "It's been pretty dull, actually. It'll be nice to move and have something else to do." He smiled a little. "I've got to start packing soon." At least he didn't have too much to deal with.
"I'm going to go looking for furniture next week." He said with a sigh. Buying a house was one thing, but Arthur wasn't looking forward to the shopping that went along with it. Most of the basics in his flat had come with it, so he wouldn't be taking them away. "I'm not looking forward to it. I'll be glad to get it done, though."

Smiling at that, Alfred nodded and just chuckled. "Nah, it'll be okay if I go with you. They trust me and I'll have already had a look at your house by then." He pointed out, rolling his shoulders relaxedly. "Besides, it's good to adopt, a lot of those animals get put to sleep when they're lovely pets..."
Still, he just cocked his head as he listened to Arthur, curious about what he had to do to get something published of course. Well...it did sound rather boring. Humming, Alfred just ran his fingers through his own hair as he sat back. "Mhm, you do. We'll need to get at least your bedroom in order first too..."
Pausing, he then blinked in thought. "I don't mind comin' with you for that if you want. Shoppin' is usually more fun if someone comes with you." He chuckled, resting his chin on his hand with a grin. "What furniture do we need to pick out?"

Arthur relaxed and nodded. "I'd prefer to get a rescue cat, so if you could come... It'd make things easier at least." He'd still have to register it with a vet in the Highlands but he was pretty sure that they wouldn't ask where it came from, so he thought that it'd be all right. "I suppose all the kittens go first too, leaving all the older cats." Which was fine by him. He didn't want a kitten that'd scratch up all of his new furniture and have to be litter trained, thank you very much!
"If you want to come, I'd appreciate it, but it will be boring." Arthur admitted. "I've started making a list, but it's not finished yet. Someone's moving out of the new place so at the moment it's full of their furniture which makes it more difficult to work out what i'll need. But I basically need everything. My desk is my own, and so's the TV stand, but aside from that I think more or less everything is the flat's." He said with a sigh. "I've got the room measurements, but nothing more than that so I can't work out curtains or anything like that yet." He smiled at Alfred then. "If you do come, you can pick the bed for the spare room, since I don't suppose anyone else will be really using it."

Nodding, Alfred smiled a bit, because that was pretty much the truth. "Pretty much, but it's not too hard. The vets have pretty good contact with eachother anyway, low or high." Taking another sip of his water, Alfred nodded amusedly but then made a noise of thought.
"Well, in a way that's easier, because we can get the basics and then if they already have it, either replace it or return it." He pointed out, before he stretched out. What he said last though made him pause, frowing. " It's okay, I don't need a bed Arthur. Or I can buy my own." He said, looking determined to not let that happen, at all. He hated Arthur spending money on him.

Rolling his eyes as Alfred tried to claim that he didn't need a bed, Arthur smiled at him. "Alfred, it's my house and I want it properly furnished even if I am letting you keep that room. I'll be getting a wardrobe that you can lock and a bed at the very least." He told him, gently, but firmly. Obviously this wasn't going to be something that he wasn't going to back down on.
"I was thinking maybe you could come with me to look for kitchen things too. You were complaining that I don't have... a rice steamer that time, and I suppose if I'm going to get that sort of thing now's as good a time as any." He said, sighing out. He didn't want to encourage Alfred to try and feed him more, but Alfred seemed to do it anyway, and at least this way he couldn't complain about Arthur not having what he needed.

Opening his mouth to complain, it soon closed at the tone. Huffing, he pouted at Arthur. "...Fine. But it better be cheap." He mumbled, obviously not liking that he was being forced into having a bed, and worse--that Arthur was paying for it. Actually Alfred even started sulking a bit.
Blinking, Alfred hummed but nodded. "You said everything pretty much was the complex's...So does that include silverware and knives too?" He asked, arching a brow in curiousity. And obviously Alfred was going to be feeding him more, there was absolutely no way that Arthur was going to get out of it.

Realising that Alfred might not be used to sleeping in a bed any more, Arthur let out a satisfied noise at getting his way, but did compromise a little. "How about we look for one of those futon type ones?" He offered. He suspected that Alfred was planning to push it against the door anyway, and that way it hopefully would be light enough to move easily and not do too much damage to the floor, as well as being cheap.
"Hmm? Oh, I meant the furniture." Arthur explained. "I own everything else." He'd had to buy it all in when he first moved there of course, but a fair amount of it had been replaced since then. "If it was all the flat's I wouldn't need much help moving. Last time I did it by myself, and I think I have less clothes than I did then, even if I have more books now."
Tapping his fingers on the table, Arthur hummed out. "Do you want to have a look around the new place before I move in?" He asked, looking at Alfred curiously. He didn't know how easy it would be to arrange another viewing when he'd already sorted out all the paperwork. He didn't want to press the family that were there now. Still, if Alfred really wanted to see he could probably arrange something.

Making a noise of thought, Alfred faintly nodded. "If they're a good price, I guess.." He murmured, settling down before he scratched the side of his nose faintly. Still, he nodded, pleased to hear that at least before he chuckled. "Well it won't be an issue for me to help you out, I'm used to heavy lifting. "
The next question of course surprised him though, and he smiled before he shook his head. "I'll let it be a surprise for when I help you move in...But um, we're getting your stuff in first and then buying the new stuff, right?" He asked, wanting to make sure that he would have a good idea of how much sleep he should attempt to get if he'd be lifting things...Besides, since Arthur mentioned he wanted a cat, he'd figure he'd go on down and make good with them again to renew trust, so there'd be no issues with getting the cat to their new home.

Well, even if Alfred didn't let Arthur buy him a bed when they went shopping together, Arthur could always buy him one afterwards. It was his house, after all! And he did want the room to be furnished properly. "I was thinking it'd be best to get all the big furniture in advance, but then get it delivered the day before I actually move in so we can have everything in place to put my stuff into." He'd always been planning to get everything delivered, it'd save either of them having to carry any of the big stuff.
"My last day in the last is the last day of the month." He told him with a nod. "And I get the keys for the new house next week. I was going to head down and do some painting on the tuesday, just the bedrooms, since I want everything else redone." He smiled, nudging Alfred. "What colour do you want your room?" He offered, smiling. He was more than happy to paint the spare room whatever colour Alfred wanted, as long as it wasn't too ridiculous. Anything that would make Alfred more comfortable there. "If you want to come shopping with me we can go anytime between then."

Well that definitely made the most sense, and Alfred smiled with a nod. "So if you get the keys does that mean the family is going to be all the way moved out by next week?" He asked, arching a brow as he took a moment to sip what was left of the water away before catching an ice cube in his mouth to suckle on. He liked how they tasted.
The question of course made his face flush a bit, and then he pondered the question. "Hmn...I dunno...Can I choose when I see the colors?" He requested. Of course Alfred had painted rooms before, but to paint something that was tentatively his own...Well, it was happy feeling. Arthur was a pretty good artist, maybe he could convince him into painting a bunch of trees on his wall or something cool...

"They'll be out when I get the keys." Arthur said with a nod. "I think they said they've already got a house sorted out; they needed somewhere bigger." He explained. One eyebrow rose as Alfred started to eat the ice cube, but he didn't mention it.
Smiling at the blush, thinking it was cute, Arthur nodded. "Are you going to come and help me, then?" He asked. "I was thinking I'd do my room blue." Glancing at Alfred, Arthur was actually thinking that it'd be nice to paint it the same colour as Alfred's eyes. It was a nice colour. "I'll probably repaint the corridors eventually too, but that doesn't need to be done for a while, so I'll wait until all the renovations and the garden's done." He paused, and then frowned a little. "Mm, I wasn't planning on changing the carpets, though. They said that they'd been changed last year. They're both just a pale grey."
Glancing at what was left of his meal, Arthur guessed that it would be cold now anyway and stretched out. He'd eaten maybe a third of it, enough to make him feel uneasy. At least Alfred couldn't make him eat any more now. He finished up his tea, then stretched out a little. "Do you want anything else to eat while we're in here, or shall we go for a bit of a walk?" He suggested.

Nodding happily, Alfred arched a brow with a smile to hear that. "Sounds like they're planning on having another baby then." He said a bit happily before he relaxed, considering the color since he described the carpet. "Mmnnn...Well they'd semi-match if you did a blue color at least. Because it's light usually a darker color would be nicer, but, it's your house." He nodded, smiling.
That bowl contained more of what he'd personally seen Arthur eat in a good while though, so he didn't complain too much when he seemed intent on leaving it. "Nah, I'm good. A walk sounds kinda good to help digestion.." Shifting, he snagged the books and carefully set them in his bag for now--just so they didn't have to carry them--and then made a happy full noise.
"Thanks for the meal, Arthur, but I do want to do something in celebration of the books getting published. Are you sure I can't pay?" he pointed out, pouting at him. It wasn't fair, Arthur was the one who had reached something he didn't think possible so he should be the one to pay for the meal at least.

"They already had two kids sharing, but maybe." Arthur agreed with a nod. "I don't really want too dark a colour." Perhaps he was used to the bland, neutral colours in his flat, but he liked them. They were simple and clean. His rock lifestyle was better... buried.
Arthur was more interested in the exercise than aiding digestion, but he nodded, slipping the booklet into his bag as well. "I'll pay. It's not that much." He quickly said. "Besides, I had more than you." With the two teas, anyway, Alfred's meal had been more. But the cost was still nothing to Arthur. He headed over to the counter to pay up before Alfred could, smiling at Joel and thanking him, his way of apologising for the glare earlier. Then he returned to Alfred, shifting his bag into a better position. "There's a bit of a park on the other side of the train station, isn't there?" He asked, a bit unsure. Even though he was starting to get more used to the Lowlands, he'd never really bothered to look at a map. "Shall we head over there?"

Well there'd be a bit of time for Arthur to get a good look at the colors when he went to look for the paint anyway Alfred figured. Pouting, Alfred nodded, letting Arthur go on and pay for the food and what not, standing while he waited. "Yeah, there is. It has a lot of nice flowers." Smiling, Alfred led the way on out.
The rest of the time they spent together was mostly just done with them walking around the park, then around the better parts of town, Alfred showing him a few places where the remodelling could begin. However, soon it got late and Alfred walked him on to the train station, promising to keep in better touch for when Arthur wanted him to go with him to pick out things. As soon as Arthur was on the train and that was out of sight however, he returned to his heroic duties of keeping people out of harms way, seemingly melting into the night.
